Definitions and methodology The table presents unweighted data.
1.03.2023: The weight category data of all years have been replaced according to the newer, 2012 BMI norms.
The dataset provides an overview of body mass index (BMI) categories among schoolchildren in Estonia. Data are presented over time as HBSC survey data by study year, where BMI is grouped into categories (underweight, normal weight, overweight/obesity) and results are shown by sex (boys and girls, boys, girls) and age (all ages, 11, 13, 15). The purpose of collecting BMI data is to ensure a systematic overview of weight-related risks among young people in order to monitor time trends and between-group differences and to support planning of preventive and health promotion activities. Data source: Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) study; survey data are compiled, analysed and published by the National Institute for Health Development.
