Definitions and methodology The data includes all persons (number of persons) treated or consulted at a psychiatrist's outpatient appointment in a calendar year based on the final clinical diagnosis. The 2022 data have been revised on 17.06.2024.
The dataset provides an overview of behavioural disorders outpatient care in Estonia. For outpatient care, the dataset presents the number of persons seen by a psychiatrist for outpatient treatment or consultation, based on the final clinical primary diagnosis. Results are shown both as the total number of consulted persons and as new cases; the data can be viewed by ICD-10 diagnoses, sex, and age group. For new outpatient psychiatric cases, a person is counted if the final clinical primary diagnosis has been diagnosed for them for the first time in their life. The purpose of collecting and publishing the data is to provide an aggregated overview of treatment contacts related to mental and behavioural disorders and the use of psychiatric care, enabling the monitoring of changes across diagnostic groups and by sex and age group, and supporting the planning and evaluation of mental health services. Data source: National Institute for Health Development. The data is collected through the annual report 'Mental and behavioural disorders', submitted in A-veeb, the web-based data collection system, by all licensed providers of psychiatric services employing psychiatrists. Data collection is carried out under the Health Services Organisation Act and the regulation of the Minister of Social Affairs.
