Definitions and methodology County - person's last residence
Since 2008 the data differ from the data published by Statistics Estonia, because Statistics Estonia published deaths according to Population Registry, since 2016 Statistics Estonia is using residency index (data is gathered from many registers) and NIHD according to last residence known by physician.
The data differ from the rates of 2020 reflected in Table SD22, because the rates in Table SD23 have been calculated by the National Institute for Health Development and uses slightly different methodology compared to the calculations of Statistics Estonia. Table SD22 shows the rates calculated by NIHD until 2019 and the rates for 2020 are calculated by Statistics Estonia.
Until 2017, data by the counties is distributed by the administrative division that existed before administrative reform (October 2017). Data starting from 2018 is distributed by new administrative division.
