Definitions and methodology The following question is taken based on the events having occurred during lifetime:
At what age did you engage in the following activities for the first time?
- I tried a cigarette for the first time,
- I started using cigarettes every day,
- I tried alcohol for the first time,
- I was drunk for the first time,
- I tried some drugs for the first time.
The dataset provides an overview of lifetime experience of trying regular cigarettes among young people in Estonia. The data are presented as distributions by having tried regular cigarettes and are grouped by school type, grade, age and selected background characteristics (gender, nationality, type of settlement and region). The dataset enables comparisons between groups and examination of associations between trying cigarettes and background characteristics. The purpose of collecting sexual health data on Estonian youth is to support understanding of developmental needs and to plan health promotion in Estonia.
