The dataset provides an overview of 1st, 4th and 7th grade pupils’ body mass index categories in Estonia. The data are presented by different BMI assessment methods, age, sex and region, enabling more detailed comparisons of BMI category distributions across demographic and regional groups. The aim of data collection in the Childhood Obesity Surveillance Initiative (COSI survey) is to ensure a systematic overview of schoolchildren’s growth and nutritional status indicators in Estonia, in order to monitor time trends and risk groups and to support the planning of prevention activities and health policy.
