Tissue

Umbilical cord tissue

The first license to procure umbilical cord tissue in Estonia was issued in 2018, and activity began in 2019. After procurement, umbilical cord tissue is sent to handlers in other countries for handling and storage.

Serum eye drops

The first license for the procurement of serum eye drops was issued in Estonia in 2022. Serum eye drops are prepared from serum isolated from the patient's own blood, which is diluted with saline. One unit is 1.5 ml or 1 ml of drops packaged in a syringe.
The dataset provides an overview of procured, processed and released-for-use tissues n Estonia. The data can be viewed by tissue type and indicator, distinguishing procured tissues, processed tissues and tissues released for use. The purpose of data collection is to ensure a consistent time series overview of tissue procurement and processing outputs as well as the volume released for use, presenting the respective indicators to support health system monitoring and service planning.
