Definitions and methodology Statistics of treatment cases of Europeans in Estonia take into account the data of 36 countries of the European region: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Spain, Netherlands, Croatia, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Latvia, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, France, Sweden, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Finland, Great Britain, Switzerland, Denmark, Czech Republic and Hungary, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus. 23.04.2025 updated table structure.
The dataset contains an overview of treatment cases in Estonia for insured persons from European countries by health care professional occupation/specialty and patient sex. Data are presented by occupation/specialty and sex (including “sex unknown”). The dataset enables monitoring which professional specialties are more frequently associated with cross-border treatment cases and how this changes over time, supporting monitoring of service organisation and division of labour. The purpose of collecting data on cross-border treatment cases is to ensure a systematic overview of their distribution from the health care professional specialty perspective, in order to support health service planning and assessment of resource use.
