Emergency department (ED) - a department at a hospital with the instruments and furnishings conforming to requirements which provides all emergency medical care services. Compare: reception department/room.
Reception department/room - a department/room for the admittance of emergency patients that does not have to conform to the requirements of an emergency department (including specialised emergency medical care).
The dataset provides an overview of the availability of an emergency department (ED) and/or another emergency reception unit and the discharge of emergency patients by hospital for hospitals included in the Estonian Hospital Network Development Plan. Data are presented by year. The purpose of data collection is to obtain a comparable and time-traceable overview of the resources, service volumes and economic activity of hospitals included in the Hospital Network Development Plan, and to support hospital network planning and health system monitoring.
