Definitions and methodology A small correction was made in the 2022 data on 29.04.2025.
The dataset contains Estonian health care expenditures based on the international SHA 2011 methodology. The table shows healthcare system investments in fixed assets (HK, including infrastructures, machinery and equipment, intellectual propety products) by service provider (HP). The data are presented in thousands of euros. According to the methodology, investments include the acquisition and improvement of fixed assets of the healthcare system that support the provision of healthcare services. The data come mainly from administrative sources: annual reports on the execution of the state and local government budgets, health expenditure in the administrative area of ministries, Estonian Health Insurance Fund's and insurance companies' expenditure data, information from the Ministry of Social Affairs on foreign aid projects, projects financed through the Ministry of Finance from the gambling tax, and health expenditure by welfare institutions. The basis for out-of-pocket health expenditure is the statistical reports on the economic activities and service provision of health service providers collected by the NIHD. The aim of data collection is to provide a comparable overview of Estonian health expenditure and to support health policy monitoring, planning and international comparison. Data source: NIHD
