Definitions and methodology Data were collected in March.
Due to implementation of new classification of occupations base to ISCO-08, and to grant comparability of data, since 2012 categories nurses and caring personnel do not include dental nurses and assistent nurses. Dental nurses form a separate category 'dental nurses'. Radiology technicians are also excluded from category 'nurses and midwives' since 2012.
Dentists, assistant physicians and resident physicians are excluded from category 'physicians'.
Other providers: diagnostics providers, nursing care providers, outpatient care departments in prison and primary health care providers (except family doctor offices; e.g. school health service providers).
The average monthly gross wages have been given in full-time units to enable a comparison of different wages and salaries, irrespective of the length of working time. .. - there are too few or no persons to publish the data, ie the number of persons is 0-2. When interpreting the results it is important to know that the basis of the wage can be an hourly wage or a fixed monthly wage, and the number of working hours in March differs through the years.
28.05.2020 revised all data for 2012-2019.
10.10.2024 revised data for dentists (orthodontists) for 2019-2023. Since 2019 the data calculation methology has been changed for orthodontists.
The dataset provides an overview of healthcare employees’ wages, presenting average gross hourly wages and gross monthly wages in Estonia. The data are presented by profession group, healthcare service provider type and hospital type, and the quartiles of hourly wages are also provided. The published average wages are converted to a full-time equivalent employee to enable comparisons regardless of working time. Data are collected using the statistical report “Hourly wage of healthcare employees”, which is submitted by all independent healthcare service providers regardless of ownership type or legal form. Independent healthcare service providers submit a consolidated report covering all their subordinate units/branches. Data are collected for March each year. The report includes only persons working under employment contracts and authorisation agreements; persons working under contracts for services are not included. The purpose of data collection is to compile the underlying data for wage statistics of healthcare employees and to calculate average monthly wages and hourly wages in order to support analyses of the healthcare workforce and remuneration.
