Definitions and methodology The data set for woman given birth prenatal medical examinations and activities collected with the birth card has changed since 2020. See table 'SR44: Women given birth medical examinations and activities during pregnancy (1992-2019)' to see data of previous years.
The dataset shows prenatal diagnostics, examinations and treatment during pregnancy among women who gave birth in Estonia, by woman's age group (all age groups, 10-14, 15-17, 18-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50 and over, age unknown) and place of residence (all places of residence, Estonia, Tallinn and Tartu separately, all counties, county unknown, residence outside of Estonia, residence unknown). Data is presented by year and diagnostics/treatment (all women given birth, 1st trimester combined screening, 1st trimester ultrasound without serum markers, fetal DNA from maternal blood NIPT, 2nd trimester ultrasound screening, chorionic villus biopsy, amniocentesis, refused screening, unknown or screening not performed, thrombosis prophylaxis, glucose tolerance test GTT normal, GTT pathological, insulin treatment started during pregnancy). Data source: Estonian Medical Birth Register (which is part of the Estonian Medical Pregnancy Information System register), National Institute for Health Development. The Estonian Medical Pregnancy Information System is considered to analyse the course of pregnancy, miscarriage and termination, and maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality, organize health services, develop health policy, evaluate diagnostic and treatment approaches, and conduct statistics and scientific research, including epidemiological studies.
