Definitions and methodology The data set for woman given birth risk factors collected with the birth card has changed since 2020. See table 'SR42: Women given birth risk factors and complications during pregnancy (1992-2019)' to see data of previous years.
The dataset shows the number of risk factors during pregnancy among women who gave birth by the woman's place of residence and age group in Estonia. Data is presented by risk factor (all women given birth, artificial insemination, previous Caesarean section, anaemia (Hgb <100 g/L), pre-pregnancy insulin-dependent diabetes, hypertension diagnosed before pregnancy), by the woman's age group (all age groups, 10-14, 15-17, 18-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50 and over, age unknown), aby by the woman's place of residence (all places of residence, Estonia, Harju county, Tallinn and Tartu separately, all counties, county unknown, residence outside of Estonia, residence unknown). Data source: Estonian Medical Birth Register (which is part of the Estonian Medical Pregnancy Information System register), National Institute for Health Development. The Estonian Medical Pregnancy Information System is considered to analyse the course of pregnancy, miscarriage and termination, and maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality, organize health services, develop health policy, evaluate diagnostic and treatment approaches, and conduct statistics and scientific research, including epidemiological studies.
