The dataset shows the number of live births in Estonia by years. The data is presented by gestational age (5 categories: all gestational ages, gestational age under 37 weeks (premature births), 37-41 weeks, 42+ weeks, gestational age unknown), age group of the woman who gave birth (12 categories, incl. all age groups, 10-14, 15-17, 18-19, 20-24 to 50 and older, age unknown) and her place of residence, which can be both in Estonia and abroad (22 categories, incl. all places of residences, Estonia total, Harju county, Tallinn, Hiiu county, Ida-Viru county to Võru county, county unknown, residence outside of Estonia, residence unknown). Data source: Estonian Medical Birth Register (which is part of the Estonian Medical Pregnancy Information System register), National Institute for Health Development. The Estonian Medical Pregnancy Information System is considered to analyze the course of pregnancy, miscarriage and termination, and maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality, organize health services, develop health policy, evaluate diagnostic and treatment approaches, and conduct statistics and scientific research, including epidemiological studies.
