Traffic accidents with casualties, fatalities and injured

Age – age during the event of the accident in full years – usually derived from personal identity codes.

Municipality/county – the place of the traffic accident registered by the police. Data until October 2017 is distributed by the administrative division that existed before administrative reform (tables LO02 and LO03), table LO01 data is distributed by new administrative division, valid from end of 2017.

Estonian Transport Administration (until 31.12.2020 Estonian Road Administration) gathers data concerning traffic accidents based on protocols compiled by the police. The police will forward data to the Estonian Transport Administration pursuant to the directive of the government of Estonia titled “Procedures for Registration, Ascertaining Circumstances and Keeping Track of Traffic Accidents and Statutes of Traffic Accidents Database”.

Statistics on traffic accidents are disseminated also through the webpage of Estonian Transport Administration.

Estonia sends their data to European traffic accidents database CARE. Reports and statistics are available here: European Road Safety Observatory.
